The SA paper industry is getting its first ecofriendly water treatment system.

The
most common scale we normally deal with is calcium carbonate in cooling
towers, closed and open cooling systems, hot and cold natural water.
This system was designed to filter out calcium sulphate in the
process liquor. Calcium
association with sulphate has a much stronger bond than the normal scale
composed of calcium and carbonate, and as such it is much more difficult
to remove from the water system.
How
does our filter work? In principle our system manufactures the calcium
sulphate inside the confines of our systems, and filters it out of the
bulk of the water, together with the calcium carbonates that are present
in the water. We do it
without adding chemicals, consuming only a small amount of electricity
that is required to remove the excess minerals associated with the scale
forming process. These
excess minerals bring the water out of balance, and if not removed will
form a deposit in the pipelines and the system.
Our
filters operate in all industries, including mining, water supply,
cooling towers, core metal industries, dairies and beverage plants.
The system keeps cooling towers, heat exchangers, scrubbers and
water pipelines clean from scale, corrosion and biolife in an economical
and ecofriendly process.
